1 Steal Away
traditional

Refrain:
Steal away, steal away,
Steal away to Jesus!
Steal away, steal away home,
I ain't got long to stay here.

My Lord calls me;
He calls me by thunder;
The trumpet sounds within my soul,
I ain't got long to stay here.

Green trees are bending;
Poor sinner stands atrembling;
The Trumpet sounds within my soul,
I ain't got long to stay here.

My Lord calls me;
He calls me with a whisper;
The trumpet sounds within my soul,
I ain't got long to stay here.

2 New Music
words and music: Tim Lowly (1)

Big cars rolling down Wealthy Street
I'm out of step to this twilight parade
Something is dying, but new music is playing at our door

Small boxers fist puncture an October morning
Verbal assault from a passing car
Something is dying, but new music is playing at our door

New music turns me around
Sets my feet dancing
I'd rather stand around
God adds a third without a sound
Meanwhile the clock keeps ticking

Oh, Mary what was it like
Hanging your life on Gabriel's words
Was bearing new life like a two edged sword

Unto us a child is given
Coming down in the savior's arms
We don't understand we don't feel worthy
But our hearts are rising to greet this new song

3 Bread of the World
words: Reginald Heber, 1827
music: Tim Lowly (2)

Bread of the world, in mercy broken,
Wine of the soul, in mercy shed,
By Whom the words of life were spoken,
And in Whose death our sins are dead.

Look on the heart by sorrow broken,
Look on the tears by sinners shed;
And be Thy feast to us the token,
That by Thy grace our souls are fed.

4 I Give Thanks Everyday Oh Great Spirit
chorus: Ronna Case
verses: Tim Lowly (3)

Chorus: I give thanks every day oh great spirit

For the eyes of a child
For the song of a bird
For the image of grace
For your living word

For the cycle of life
For the seed sown in death
For the passing on
For each given breath

For the fruit of this earth
For the rain from the sky
For the ones who partake
For the ones who provide

For lover and friend
For those we don't know
For your hand ever sure
For these mysteries below

5 Music, when Soft Voices die
words: Percy Bysshe Shelley. 17921822 & Tim Lowly
music: Tim Lowly (2)

Music, when soft voices die,
Vibrates in the memory;
Odours, when sweet violets sicken,
Live within the sense they quicken.

        Oh, to be where you are

Rose leaves, when the rose is dead,
Are heap'd for the belovèd's bed;
And so thy thoughts, when thou art gone,
Love itself shall slumber on.

Oh, to be where you are

6 Break Forth
words: Johann Rist, 1641 and Fred Pratt Green, 1986 *
music: Tim Lowly (2)

Break forth, O beauteous heavenly light,
And usher in the morning;
O shepherds, shrink not with afright,
But hear the angel's warning.
This Child, now weak in infancy,
Our confidence and joy shall be,
The power of Satan breaking,
Our peace eternal making.

This night of wonder, night of joy,
was born the Christ, our brother;
he comes, not mighty to destroy,
to bid us love each other.
How could he quit his kingly state
for such a world of greed and hate?
What deep humiliation
secured the world's salvation!

Come, dearest child, into our hearts,
and leave your crib behind you!
Let this be where the new life starts
for all who seek and find you.
To you the honor, thanks, and praise,
for all your gifts this time of grace;
come, conquer and deliver
this world, and us, forever.

7 Jig (for a little girl pig)
words and music: Tim Lowly (1)

Here is a jig for a little girl pig who dances all day at the fair
She jigs to the left and she jigs to the right, she jigs all day without a care

Oh, to be where you are is to carry your love in my heart
To be where you be is to sail the seven seas

Here is the note that propels the boat that's off in search of you
It may be sharp, it may be flat, it may be old, but it's new

Here is a song; you can sing along, though I don't really know what it means
There's pop in the fridge, Mom's on the bridge, and we all can have franks and beans

Here is a tune like a balloon at sail in the Easter blue sky
It floats oh so free till it's stuck in a tree it pops and everyone cries

Here is a jig for a little girl pig who dances all day at the fair

8 Wondrous Love
traditional

9 Crossing Over
words and music: Tim Lowly (1)

You sail out on the sea of night

Crossing over

In your big boat of forgiveness

You bend beneath the winds that blow

You reach out for the distant shore

You hold deep the word within

10 For the Fruits
words: Fred Pratt Green, 1970 *
music: Tim Lowly (2)

For the fruits of this creation, thanks be to God;
For the gifts of every nation, thanks be to God;
For the plowing, sowing, reaping,
Silent growth while we are sleeping,
Future needs in earth's safe keeping, thanks be to God!

In the just reward of labor, God's will be done;
In the help we give our neighbor, God's will be done;
In the worldwide task of caring
For the hungry and despairing,
In the harvests we are sharing, God's will be done.

For the harvests of the Spirit, thanks be to God;
In the good we all inherit, thanks be to God;
For the wonders that astound us,
For the truths that will confound us,
Most of all, that love has found us, thanks be to God!

11 Jesus Joy
words: Martin Janus, 1661
music: Tim Lowly (2)

Jesus, joy of man's desiring,
Holy wisdom, love most bright;
Drawn by Thee, our souls aspiring
Soar to uncreated light.
Word of God, our flesh that fashioned,
With the fire of life impassioned,
Striving still to truth unknown,
Soaring, dying round Thy throne.

Through the way where hope is guiding,
Hark, what peaceful music rings;
Where the flock, in Thee confiding,
Drink of joy from deathless springs.
Theirs is beauty's fairest pleasure;
Theirs is wisdom's holiest treasure.
Thou dost ever lead Thine own
In the love of joys unknown.

12 Nobody Knows
traditional

Nobody knows the trouble I've seen.
Nobody knows but Jesus.
Nobody knows the trouble I've seen.
Glory Hallelujah!

Sometimes I'm up,
Sometimes I'm down
Oh, yes, Lord.
Sometimes I'm almost to the ground
Oh, yes, Lord.

Although you see me going along so
Oh, yes, Lord.
I have my troubles here below
Oh, yes, Lord.

Why does old Satan hate us so
Oh, yes, Lord.
Cause Jesus has us and he won't let go
Oh, yes, Lord.

13 You shine
words and music: Tim Lowly (1)

Window looker watches hoopoe poke the yard
Little jerky zebra bird living whole heart hard
"As kingfishers draw fire dragonflies draw flame"*
You tumble down each wing beat while we take aim

You shine like the sun
Shine on everyone

Look at the steeple in the cross-haired sky
Holy dove wings holy gift of grace
Cross gaps we praise with the name "space"

You shine like the sun
Shine on everyone

In heart stone hard or hearts opened wide
Your life beat drum rolls its mortal side tide
While we separate into friend and foe
You send on all one rain, one sun, one snow

You shine like the sun
Shine on everyone

*Gerard Manley Hopkins

14 Cradled
words and music: Tim Lowly (1)

You carry me
Cradled like a bird
In your hands

But all that I see
Are the lost and the lonely
Cradled like a bird in your hands

You come to me
Cradle as a bird
In my hands

All that you bring to me
Is humble and holy
Cradled as a bird in your hands

You carry me
Cradled like a bird
In your hands
